Foward Your Emails to the Future!

Microsoft Outlook Users:  Do you get important emails at the wrong time and wish you could delay them a few days so they actually remind you to do something the day you need to do it?  I'm not talking about meetings or events that you schedule on your calendar.  I'm taking about the small tasks that you only need to perform once.  Something like placing an order, making a phone call, or remembering that the building you work in is having a fire drill in two weeks.  Sure, you can flag the email and let it sit in your inbox, but when things start to pile up and get busy, it is hard to remember to check your old "Flagged" emails to see if you have to do something today.  Well guess what...  here is a quick and easy way to forward your important emails to yourself in the future!

  1. Open the email that you want delivered to you on a date in the future by double clicking it in the "Inbox" window
  2. Select the "Forward" icon in the email window                    Forward an email
  3. In the forwarded email, put your email address in the "To..." address bar    Outlook To line
  4. Click on the "Options" tab and then click the "Delay Delivery" icon               Outlook Delivery Delay
  5. In the "Message Options" window, make sure that the "Do not deliver before:" box is checked, and then set the date and time that you want to receive the email.                                                                           Microsoft Outlook Message Options Delay Delivery
  6. Click the "Close" button in the "Message Options" window, and then click the "Send" icon in the email window.
  7. Receive your important email at a time when it actually matters to you, and become more reliable and efficient!
