Let's Ping, or Something.

I'm so jacked for a new social network, you have no idea.
That was a joke.
If you were living under a rock which was covered with Android phones draped with western hipster plaid shirts, you missed that Apple unveiled a new social network based inside of iTunes. You can follow and be followed in order to discover new music. You can even create a circle of friends so you can see what you're nerdy buddies are listening to, buying, and liking.
Dig concerts? You can follow your Lady Gaga and see where she is playing next. I don't know about you, but I'm having with my stagnant selection of the Goo Goo Dolls and Third Eye Blind. Music doesn't get any better than that, and you know it.
I've seen screenshots of the app working inside of the iTunes app for iOS, and it does indeed look slick. But, I have news for you, I don't really "buy" my music. And as far as I can tell, Ping only scans for bought tunes.
Apple had the right idea for this, though. They have 160 iTunes accounts connected to credit cards. This is a potentially huge market to get into. Maybe just not my market.
Oh, look, Housewives reruns!
